Romantic Elopement on the River Tagus

When Stephanie and Odalis decided to elope, they knew they wanted a wedding that was not just beautiful but also deeply personal and adventurous. Hailing from New York City, the couple wanted a more intimate and unique setting for their special day. They found it in Lisbon, Portugal—a city known for its historic charm, stunning river views, and vibrant culture. And so, their elopement on the River Tagus aboard a catamaran became a reality, creating a magical day that was as unforgettable as their love story.

A Dream Come True on the River Tagus

The journey began in the late evening as Stephanie and Odalis prepared to board their private Lisbon catamaran. They did a short first look in the marina before getting board.

As the boat set sail, the couple was surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Lisbon’s old town, with its iconic terracotta rooftops, ancient ruins, and colorful buildings. The river breeze carried the sounds of distant church bells and the occasional chirping of seagulls, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop for their nuptials. The couple were surrounded by family and friends and serenaded by Portuguese traditional guitar performed by Miguel Mendes.

A Ceremony Full of Heart

Stephanie and Odalis chose to keep their ceremony deeply personal, enlisting Stephanie’s sister to officiate. As the boat gently cruised up the river, past landmarks like the Torre de Belém and under the striking 25 de Abril Bridge, the couple exchanged vows that they had written themselves. They spoke of their journey together, from their first meeting  to the moment they decided to elope to Lisbon.

Stephanie’s sister delivered a heartfelt ceremony, adding personal anecdotes and joyful blessings that had everyone on board feeling the depth of the couple’s love and commitment. With the city’s historic skyline as their witness, Stephanie and Odalis said "I do," sealing their vows with a kiss as the boat passed the iconic Alfama district. The moment was intimate, authentic, and beautifully reflective of who they are as a couple.

After the ceremony, the boat continued back along the river Tagus taking in the stunning Lisbon sites and sounds. Stephanie and Odalis then had a quick outfit changed before celebrating their evening at Rocco’s, a stylish Lisbon restaurant known for its delicious cuisine. The intimate setting at Rocco’s was the perfect end to their special day, allowing them to reflect on their vows and the adventure ahead.
